Dr. Raz Scobercea grew up in the suburbs of Chicago but has lived in the Houston area for more than 20 years. He completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center, earning the Bronze Hammer Award. This award, an honor bestowed upon one chief resident per year, allowed him to travel to Nice, France for specialized training in shoulder arthroscopy and replacement with world renowned shoulder surgeon Pascal Boileau. Following residency he completed an arthroscopy and sports medicine fellowship at OASIS Clinic in San Diego, California. There he served as assistant team physician for the NFL’s San Diego Chargers, USA Rugby, and the X Games. He has been in private practice in Northeast Houston since 2009 specializing in arthroscopy, reconstruction, and replacement of the hip, knee, and shoulder.
Dr. Scobercea believes in individualized care customized to each patient’s specific needs and activities, from the competitive athlete to weekend warrior to those desiring to return to normal daily function. He utilizes the latest techniques and technology, such as computer navigation, robotic assistance, and imaging based planning software, to perform surgery with the highest degree of accuracy and precision. He strives for the best possible outcomes and loves to see his patients get back to doing the things they love to do.
Dr. Scobercea and his wife have been blessed with four children. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family while traveling, hunting, and spending time outdoors.
